GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!

Friday Night With Friends

After a long week, we girls needed a night out- or a night in…didn’t matter where we’d meet up because we were sure to have a great time. Chelsea and Aubree and Regina…together again at last. It had been too long since we’d seen each other and we get excited when our busy schedules allow us to spend some time together. We’ve all got big girl jobs now and responsibilities that completely stress us out. Luckily, we forgot about all that this Friday and made the most of our girls’ night…no boys allowed- except Josh, who awesomely agreed to drive us to satisfy our craving for Mexican food. It was happy hour when we arrived…and we were happy, too. Sipping our margaritas and laughing together, we relaxed knowing that our designated driver would pick us up at our leisure.  (We’re responsible now, that way.) I’ve heard that one should never put pictures online while holding a grown-up beverage…I think margaritas are the exception to this rule. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t at least had one in their lifetime, so these sweet n sour mixtures are far less frowned upon than shots of liquor, right? Right.

Ice cold deliciousness.

Crispy chips and savory salsa!

From my margarita’s perspective…here’s how it sees Chels.

Okay, I use my phone a LOT…However, Chelsea and Aubree are addicted to their gadgets. I bet if I had an iphone, an intervention would be necessary for all of us.

Meet Aubree- my hilarious Canadian pal, who has a heart of gold.

Luxurious locks of hair that I openly envy.

Meet Chelsea- my cute lil' R.N. friend who completes our trio. If anyone deserved a big girl beverage, it's this girl- after pulling 12-hour, life-saving shifts all week long.

Aubree earned her ‘marg’ (as she calls them, since she likes to shorten words lately), since she exceeded her sales quota to achieve an occupational advancement this week! (Picture?...Sometimes she growls…that’s normal, don’t worry about it, aye?)

Charming Chelsea chills like a champ. :)

After we finished devouring delicious food, we decided that our night out would include a stroll to Kroger. We sat outside in cushy patio chairs that made a useful spot for us to rest our tired feet. People-watching is more fun with friends who will happily sit by your side on a store’s product display.

Getting dressed up is fun for us, even if our destination is just down the street. Our choice of high heels as footwear (especially Aubree’s) had begun to hinder our strides to the store. Next time, ladies, casual dress and comfy shoes are required. Limping isn’t attractive, no matter how cute your shoes are- that goes for me, too. (note to self- I move about more gracefully when wearing flip-flops.)

“Between that which exists and that which does not, is the space called love.”

Some unwelcome attention was received from Subway sandwich eaters, who watched as we hobbled by them on our Kroger-bound journey.

Black and White and Beautiful, Here's Chelsea's facial expression when she's plotting something...or reading, or doing both of those activities, simultaneously...

Chelsea held up a Lost Dog flyer to humor us by getting a predictable reaction from our animal-loving Aubree. “It says he has no hind legs, either, Aubree.” Not that Chels and I think lost pets are a laughing matter- but Aubree’s reaction to animals in distress is quite entertaining for us. (Maybe we’re just mean.) We love dogs, too…but no one adores canines as much as our Canadian. I think she'd adopt every dog in the world if she only had a house big enough for them...This picture captures Aubs love for animals- no matter how pitiful or disabled their situation. Awwww....mean ole' Chels and Regina, making Aubree nearly cry for lost little doggie, featured on a Kroger flyer.

We hadn’t seen a pay phone for quite some time so we stopped for a quick photo-op.

Aubree hunched along in pumps whose heel height threatened her safety and overall ability to walk…It takes skill to operate these sexy shoes. No matter who wears them, however, time will test one’s endurance on walks that last over 10 minutes. I think women look incredible in a good pair of pumps, and our gender’s talent is often taken for granted by males who aren’t willing (or able) to walk a mile in our shoes.

Example:

“Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but she did it backwards and in high heels.”

- Faith Whittlesey quote

Josh picked us up and took us home, where Chels giddily skipped down our driveway. Something about girls’ night brings out the kid in all of us.

Josh, on girls’ night…he decided to give us some time to catch up, and headed to his brother’s house. No boys allowed, remember? I think our girl-talk may have influenced my husband's decision to kick himself out of our exclusively awesome club.

Justin Bieber music and dancing in the living room commenced as Josh headed out. He was such a trooper! You know you’ve got a great guy when he helps you have a great night with just the girls! :)

I have two incredible friends, which makes me more lucky than ‘more than lucky’. I’m luckiest, I conclude…to have Aubree and Chelsea as my best friends. We’re definitely going to schedule more time together. We’re all strengthened by each other’s individually unique personalities that, when combined together, create memories to last a lifetime.

~ Dedicated to Aubs and Chels. (We should probably get together and craft soon.) I love you crazies and am so thankful for your friendship. ~
